East Hampton Police HQ Cramped, Reduces Efficiency: Chief

The town is considering a nearly $19 million town hall/police station project.

EAST HAMPTON, CT — Police Chief Sean Cox said the current 2,400 square foot space in the basement of town hall is inadequate for a police station and prevents the department from offering basic services.

Officers park private vehicles and change into uniform in a private facility nearly two miles away from headquarters, according to the Middletown Press.

The detention facility also doesn't meet statutory requirements, there is no secure on-site impound lot and other areas are undersized as well.
