East Hampton and Portland Take State Aid Hits in Malloy Plan

East Hampton state aid is cut 10 percent in fiscal year 2019; Portland aid is cut 11 percent from its previous allocation.

The bad news keeps coming for Connecticut municipalities as the state attempts to claw out from under its budget mess.

Under Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's revised, proposed adjustments to the fiscal year 2019 budget previously adopted by the legislature state municipal aid would be cut nearly $100 million - both in the education and non-education side.

East Hampton is receiving 10 percent less - or $775,469 less - under Malloy's plan. It was supposed to get $7.76 million. Now it is budgeted to receive $6.9 million. In Portland, Malloy has slated an 11 percent - or $517,808 cut, from $4.8 million to $4.3 million.
