Elderly Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle In East Hampton Parking Lot: PD

The victim, a Colchester resident, was hit on Friday, according to police.

EAST HAMPTON, CT — An elderly Colchester resident has died after being hit by a vehicle while walking in a local business’ parking lot Friday.

The victim was identified as James Bansemer, 75, of Colchester.

Police said the accident happened around 2:57 p.m. at the Napa Auto Parts parking lot at 72 E. High St.

Emergency personnel responded and requested Life Star helicopter due to the extent of the victim’s injuries.

Police said the man became unresponsive, with no pulse, and emergency responders began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Bansemer was rushed to Marlborough Medical Center, but he did not survive, police said.

The driver who struck the victim remained at the scene, according to police.
