The Friends of the Portland
Library’s “Read & Recycle” program will collect donations of gently used
books, puzzles, CDs, DVDs and games on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 10 am to
Noon in the Mary Flood Room of the Portland Library, 20 Freestone Avenue,
Portland. This is a great opportunity to clean out your bookshelves!
The Friends especially need paperback
fiction books in preparation for our annual Books for the Beach sale, which
will start in June. Donations of
children’s books (all ages) and newer hardcover fiction are also very much
needed.
All donated items must be in
“sellable” condition. FPL cannot accept items that are dirty, moldy or in poor
condition. No textbooks, business books, computer books, self-help books or
magazines, please.

Donors may enter through the
Library’s side door, and volunteers will be available to help carry
donations. Donations are tax-deductible
and acknowledgement forms will be available.
Donated items are sold at various
Friends’ book sales held throughout the year. All proceeds are used to support
programs of the Portland Library, including the Library’s DVD collection,
Museum Pass Program, and a wide variety of children’s, family and adult
programs held throughout the year.
