Grandson Helped By Grandfather To Build AR-15 'Ghost Guns': Police
An East Hampton, CT grandfather and grandson are facing dozens of charges in connection with the alleged manufacture of AR-15s, police said.
EAST HAMPTON, CT — It was a"concerned citizen" who told cops about a man in town who was "manufacturing illegal AR-15 assault rifles," according to East Hampton police.
Monday, police arrested and charged Clayton Hobby, 18, and his grandfather Kerry Schunk, 64, of East Hampton after finding and seizing "multiple 'ghost gun' AR-15 rifles in various stages of assembly, including one that was converted to shoot fully automatic," police said.
Investigators said Hobby was "aided by his grandfather."

While at the 23 Mountainview Road house, police also found and seized three 'ghost gun' polymer handguns, 15 high capacity magazines and approximately 1,000 rounds of ammunition.
Hobby was charged with manufacture of a machine gun, three counts of possession of an assault weapon, three counts of criminal possession of a pistol, criminal possession of ammunition, 15 counts of possession of high capacity magazines and risk of injury. Held on $250,000 surety bond, police told Patch he is due in Middletown Superior Court Tuesday.

Schunk, of the same address, was charged with conspiracy to commit manufacture of a machine gun, three counts of conspiracy to commit possession of an assault rifle, three counts of conspiracy to commit criminal possession of a pistol, conspiracy to commit criminal possession of ammunition, 15 counts of conspiracy to commit possession of high capacity magazines and interfering with an officer. He was held on $100,000 surety bond and is also due in Middletown Superior Court Tuesday.
