A Halloween event, movie night and how to can food for the winter are just some of the offerings.

The East Hampton Public Library is offering the following programs this week.

Take a Break! Making The Most of Your Harvest

  • Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1:00 p.m.

  • Take a mid-day break this harvest season and join us in welcoming Cornell-trained Master Food Preservation expert Jan Leonard Nuhn. Learn what various canning/pickling/ drying/etc. techniques you can use for all that great summer produce this growing year has produced.

  • Prep school teacher Jack Marcus (Clive Owen) meets his match in Dina Delsanto (Juliette Binoche), an abstract painter and new teacher on campus. He challenges her to a war between words and pictures, and in the process, sparks an unlikely romance. “Words and Pictures” is rated PG13.

History Fading Fast: Connecticut Gravestones

  • Ruthie Brown, Executive Director of Connecticut Gravestone Network will be presenting a talk on old graveyards and burying grounds, the old gravestones within. This talk will include identifying some colonial stone carvers, conservation issues and the archeology project to move Dr. Peter’s from East Hampton to join his family at the graveyard in Hebron.
