I’m sure by now if you have been in the stores this spring/summer you are seeing that many shades of green, particularly Emerald is the new hot color (it is Pantone’s Color of the Year) for 2013. For the home, brighter shades make nice accents and help to bring the outdoors in, but for walls, softer shades are preferable. The Color Marketing Group sees blues continuing to be strong in the home, especially blue greens and a brightened navy. Blues can be accents or act as neutrals. As far as neutrals go, grays are becoming more dominant as an alternative to beiges and taupes. Mixing different shades together looks classy, but pairing with a punch of a bright color, like emerald or amethyst creates a contemporary look. Another new shade becoming popular is a very soft creamy lemon sorbet (Benjamin Moore’s top color) …mix that with gray for a soft appeal.
