In 2011 Marty & Lynn Podskoch purchased a cape home and small cottage on 43 & 45 O'Neill Lane on Lake Pocotopaug. They realized their properties were in need of drastic repairs and decided to rebuild the structures that would be less dependent on oil. They used closed cell foam insulation, more efficient windows and doors, and installed geothermal heating and cooling in both their home and cottage. In the cottage they installed solar panels because the roof had an open view of the sun.
