Fast-Growing Chain Coming Soon To Portland

PORTLAND, CT — Jersey Mike's will open a shop in Portland this fall.

The sub chain lists a location as "coming soon" to 43 Marlborough St., Suite 110, on its website. New stores coming to Danbury, Litchfield, Plainfield and Stratford are also listed.

Portland First Selectman Michael Pelton wrote on Facebook that he met with the contractor working on the project. He said they should be open by the middle of October.

"Evidently they typically open up a Jersey Mike's on a Wednesday then work out the details for a week or so before they open big!" Pelton wrote. "I also learned that Jersey Mike's is one of the fastest growing chains in America and in almost all cases are built or opened near a Starbucks and Chipotle. Another thing I didn't know I didn't know."

The Portland shop will be next to a Starbucks at Brainerd Place.

Jersey Mike's has been expanding rapidly in recent years, including new shops in several Connecticut towns. Right now the sandwich chain has 50 stores in the state.
