EAST HAMPTON, CT — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from London who nominated Macie, of East Hampton.

How do you know the star local student?

Sister

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

My sister deserves a star student award because of how well-rounded she is. I am very proud of her and I am not just saying that because she is my sister. It was nice to see her excitement about her recent mid-term grades.

After countless hours of studying, she performed well and remains to have As in every class. Last year, she was among ten students that had a 4.0 throughout the year. Macie excels in the classroom but fills her time with many different activities. She has been in band since 4th grade but has recently decided to learn how to play the trombone.

She participates in band, jazz band, and singers which is a selective choir that meets after school. Furthermore, she is a member of the drama club and will also be helping with the Middle School's drama club as well. Even if she does not get a main role, she puts all of her efforts in and stays committed. Last year, she played Roger in "Grease" and this year she is one of the ancestors in "The Addams Family."

One cool thing that Macie does is have her own series on Bellringer News, the segment is called "Brazal in the Hall." Surprisingly, it is pretty funny. Along with this busy schedule, Macie still finds time to volunteer with the school's Interact Club. In general, Macie is the type of person that will not say "no" when she is asked to help. I admire her passion for helping and cannot wait to see what else she does in the near future.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Macie is barely home! She is always running to different activities and helping out with whatever people need. I am excited for when she gets her license, it will save me and my parents a lot of time!

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Macie!
