Passenger Thrown From Vehicle, Seriously Injured In Portland Crash

A helicopter flew the person to the hospital following the accident Tuesday, police said.

PORTLAND, CT — A person was thrown from their vehicle and seriously injured in an accident in Portland on Tuesday, according to police.

The crash occurred on Route 66 in the ledges near St. Clements Castle.

Route 66 was closed at Middle Haddam Road and at the Cobalt Center / Depot Hill Road while the crash was investigated. The road reopened Tuesday night.

A Life Star helicopter was called in to transport the vehicle's passenger to the hospital after they were ejected from the vehicle, police said.
