Plant Sale Saturday, May 14

Annual Portland Event - Tri-Club Plant Sale, 265 Main Street

The three garden clubs of Portland will hold their annual Tri-Club Plant Sale on Saturday, May 14, 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. next to the Town Green, in the parking lot at 265 Main Street. Many of the plants for sale will be perennials from the gardens of members of the three groups—the Portland Garden Club, Portland River Valley Garden Club, and Brownstone Garden Club. Grown in Portland gardens, these plants are well-adapted to local conditions.

Through educational programs on gardening and the environment and such community projects as planting and maintaining gardens at Waverly Center and the Veterans’ Memorial Garden at Town Hall, and displays at the Portland Library, the three clubs strive to benefit both Portland residents and visitors. The clubs encourage interest in all phases of home gardening, and promote better horticultural practices and the conservation of natural resources.

The annual Plant Sale is a fundraiser for the community activities of the nonprofit clubs, which are members of the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut.
