Police Officer Struck by a Car in East Hampton Sunday Identified: UPDATE
The accident was reported Sunday night and the officer's injuries are considered serious.

UPDATE: On Monday, it was revealed that the officer struck by a vehicle in East Hampton Sunday night while helping direct traffic for a utility crew is Officer Hardie Burgin, 29, Fox 61 reports.
The accident occurred around 8:20 a.m. on Route 66. His injuries are considered serious and he is at Hartford Hospital. Media reports say Burgin is alert and conscious.

EAST HAMPTON, CT — LifeStar helicopter is transporting a police officer that was struck by a vehicle in East Hampton Sunday night on West High Street or Route 66 to an area hospital, NBC Connecticut reports.
Fox 61 reports that the police officer suffered serious injuries in the accident.
