Portland Man Dies After Car Collides With Guard Rail On I-91: Police
The 44-year-old man was driving north on I-91 in Rocky Hill when the crash happened early Saturday morning, police said.
ROCKY HILL, CT — A Portland man died early Saturday morning when he was thrown from his car after it collided with a guard rail on Interstate 91.
According to Connecticut State Police, 44-year-old Marcos Benitez Rengifo was driving north on I-91 south of Exit 24 when his car veered off the road and collided with a metal guard rail shortly before 3 a.m. Police said Rengifo was ejected from the car during the crash.
Following the crash, a second vehicle driven by a 30-year-old New Jersey man was also traveling north on I-91 when it collided with Rengifo's disabled car.

Rengifo was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver of the second car was not injured.
