Route 66 is closed in East Hampton after a utility pole fell.

Route 66 is closed in East Hampton after a utility pole fell.

The pole dragged wires onto the roadway, according to the state Department of Transportation. The road is closed at Main Street.

The incident was reported shortly after 10 a.m. and the DOT gave a wide estimate of 12 hours or less to fix the problem.
