Seamster Park the Place to Be

Looking for something to do Wednesday? Why not head on over to Seamster Park next to Memorial Elementary School in East Hampton to watch some Little League softball.

These are not just any games. The 9-10 Section 2 tournament that has been held in town the past week has been for the right to advance to the state championship in Darien this weekend. Unfortunately, the six district winners participating do not include East Hampton or Portland (wait till next year!), but there are plenty of spirited and talented kids to root for, including a team of All-Stars from Middletown.

Middletown is 2-2 and still has a shot at qualifying for the title game on Thursday. Of course, they will need to win on Wednesday against Simsbury and then get some help.

So come on out and cheer for Middletown, any of the other great teams or all the kids for getting this far. Not a fan? That's OK. Seamster Park is a great place for a walk and to take in the sights and sounds of three games being played at the same time. You can also grab a burger, hot dog or any of a number of other options at the snack bar. The food is very good (I've eaten there twice this week) and reasonably priced.

In the event Wednesday's games get rained out, and rain is in the forecast, the schedule will be moved to Thursday with the Championship Game on Friday.
