The search for East Hampton's new police chief has been narrowed down to four candidates, according to town officials.

EAST HAMPTON, CT — The search for East Hampton's new police chief has been narrowed down to four candidates, the Middletown Press reported. The town hopes to fill the position by April 2.
According to the Middletown Press, officials had originally received 35 applicants for the position, which was vacated by Chief Sean D. Cox on Jan. 1. That list was whittled down to nine candidates, which was again reduced to four after subsequent interviews.
Town Manager Michael Maniscalco will make the final decision on who the new chief will be, according to the Middletown Press.
