Make room for more stuff

If you live in East Hampton and have been putting off that run to the transfer station, you might want to go this Saturday. The transfer station, which is only open on Saturday, will be closed the next two weeks because of the holidays. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., provided, of course, you have a sticker.

Historically significant, or not

Battle of the Bulge began in 1944 and in 1976 a Liberian tanker got stranded at Nantucket dumping 180,000 barrels of oil into the Atlantic, but not all was bad today, Don McLean's American Pie was released, all 8 minutes and 27 seconds of it.
