Voters in East Hampton, Portland and Nationwide May Prefer Clinton to Trump By Slim Margin
A study from Quinnipiac University discovered that voters prefer Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump, but not by much.
HAMDEN, CT – A Quinnipiac University National poll released Thursday revealed that voters prefer presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to fellow candidate Donald Trump, but not by much.
Clinton topped the 50 percent mark among American likely voters, edging over Trump 51-41 percent, according to a release. The ten percent difference is crucial for who would be victorious, though admittedly a small amount.
Adding third party candidates into the mix, Clinton comes out with 45 percent. This leaves Trump at 38 percent, further shrinking the gap in percentages.

The poll also revealed that Clinton leads heavily among women and non-white voters, with women backing the Democratic candidate 60-36 percent. Inversely, men back Trump 48-42 percent.
The Republican candidate is favored by white voters 52-41 percent, yet Clinton is backed by non-white voters by a staggering 77-15 percent. Further revealed was that 8 percent of American likely voters hate Clinton, but 10 percent hate Trump.

"We are starting to hear the faint rumblings of a Hillary Clinton landslide as her 10-point lead is further proof that Donald Trump is in a downward spiral as the clock ticks," said Assistant Director of the Quinnipiac University Poll Tim Malloy in a release. "Trump's missteps, stumbles and gaffes seem to outweigh Clinton's shaky trust status and perceived shady dealings. Wow, is there any light at the end of this dark and depressing chapter in American politics?"
The poll also shows the race to be, for loss of a better term, a negative one in that 64 percent of Trump supporters are mainly voting anti-Clinton and only 25 percent are actual supporters. Clinton’s supporters are made up of 47 percent mainly anti-Trump supporters and 32 percent pro-Clinton voters.
Other interesting finding include that voters say 74-21 percent that Trump should release his tax returns publicly, including 62-31 percent among Republicans. Voters also say 47 - 23 percent that former President Bill Clinton would have a positive effect on his wife's presidency, while 65 percent say Melania Trump would have no impact on a Trump presidency.
