2 East Haven Schools Placed On Brief Lockdown During Police Search: PD

Police said two East Haven schools were placed on a brief lockdown while officers searched for a person in the area.

EAST HAVEN, CT — Two East Haven schools were placed on a brief lockdown Friday morning while officers searched for a person in the area, according to the East Haven Police Department.

In a Facebook post, police said East Haven High School and Deer Run Elementary School were both placed in a brief lockdown around 10 a.m. as officers looked for a person who parked on the high school's property and entered a wooded area.

According to police, officers quickly found the person, who was not armed and did not pose a threat to any staff or students.

Police also noted the decision to place both schools in a brief lockdown was made in coordination with school staff out of an abundance of caution.
