4 Longtime, Highly-Trained East Haven Police Officers Promoted
Detectives Shirley Conyers and Gregory Borer promoted to sergeant. Sergeants Kershen Bissette and Justin Brochu promoted to lieutenant.

EAST HAVEN, CT —Congratulations are in order for the four East Haven Police Department officers promoted this week.
Two current detectives were promoted to the rank of sergeant and two sergeants were promoted to the rank of lieutenant.

Detective Shirley Conyers
- 15 year veteran of the Department
- B.S. in Criminal Justice from Albertus Magnus
- Field Training Officer
- Hostage Negotiator for the SCR- Regional SWAT Team
- Domestic Violence Liaison
- Juvenile Review Board Coordinator
- Domestic Violence and Sex assault Task force
It should be noted that Conyers is the first woman supervisor in the near 100-year history of the East Haven Police Department, according to Capt. Joseph M. Murgo.

Detective Gregory Borer
- 7 year veteran of the Department
- B.S. Sociology from SCSU
- CIT Officer
- Bicycle Officer
The officers promoted to lieutenant are:
Sergeant Kershen Bissette
- 9 year veteran of the Department
- CALEA Accreditation Manager
- Accident Reconstructionist
- Field Training Officer
- Defensive Tactics Instructor
Sergeant Justin Brochu
- 13 year veteran of the Department
- Field Training Officer
- Firearms Instructor
- Founder and President of the East Have Police Department Police Athletic League (EHPAL)
- Honor Guard Supervisor
"I’m proud anytime our agency promotes it’s officers. With such great talent among our personnel, I look forward to the leadership our younger generation is going to receive from these well qualified newly promoted officers," East Haven police Chief Edward Lennon said. "This round of promotions bring a diverse group of supervisors who all bring unique life experiences and perspectives. It’s encouraging to know that they will be sharing these perspectives as they guide our next generation of officers."
East Haven Mayor Joseph A. Carfora also offered his congratulations.
"I’m very proud of the newly promoted sergeants and lieutenants and look forward to their continued commitment and leadership to the Town of East Haven," Carfora said. "As mayor I strive to make our community as safe as possible and believe it starts with sound leadership among the rank and file of all of our emergency services. This round of promotions is yet another example of the good work the men and women do at the East Haven Police Department on a daily basis."
