EAST HAVEN, CT—Just before midnight Saturday night, a crash into a concrete barrier on the median on I-95 Southbound at exit 52 in East Haven led to a search for two "juvenile males" who'd fled the scene of the crash, running into a residential neighborhood, according to local and state police. A Connecticut State Police Troop G officer was called to the crash of the 2009 Mercedes, which had been reported stolen out of Westport, state police told Patch.

Inside the car were four teens, two boys, both from New Haven, and two girls, one from Waterbury, 19, and the other with no listed address, age 17, reports obtained by Patch show.

East Haven police spokesperson Capt. Joseph M. Murgo said that state police had the two "contained" in the residential area near the school. The two boys were taken into custody, Murgo said, once a State Police K9 arrived.

When the sun came up, Murgo said that East Haven police using drones and K9s "searched the area in case they discarded something when they fled the scene of the accident."

The EHPD issued a community message on social media early Sunday letting folks know why there was a "large police presence" in the area.

All four of the people in the car were transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The 16-year-old driver was issued summonses for larceny of a motor vehicle, failure to drive in the proper lane, driving without a license, and evading responsibility, state police reports show. He's due in court March 2.
