A Dream for Syria

I close my eyes and see

A Syria

Where children can play in the streets

Without the sound of gunfire

Where people are free

Without the horrors of war

Where cities flourish

Without the shell of artillery fire

I open my eyes and witness

A Syria

Where people cry

Without happiness and laughter

Where justice is hijacked

Without the rule of law

Where chemicals attack

Without decency and humanity

I close my eyes again

And dream
