EAST HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man is facing firearm charges after running from cops who'd been waiting for him to come out of a local chain restaurant.

According to East Haven police spokesperson Capt. Joseph M. Murgo, just before noon Wednesday, East Haven crime suppression detail cops saw two motorcyclists "driving recklessly" eastbound on Frontage Road before pulling into the Chili’s Restaurant parking lot.

Officers located both motorcycles parked in the lot and, after running a check, found one of the two parked motorcycles was unregistered, he said.

A short time later, officers approached the drivers when they left the restaurant. One of them, later identified as Julian Rosario, 33, of New Haven, fled on foot through the parking lot, Murgo said.

Cops chased Rosario and detained him in an adjacent parking lot, and while "struggling to take Rosario into custody," the loaded magazine of a handgun fell to the ground, Murgo said. A firearm, which was later determined to be a ghost gun, was located in Rosario’s waistband, he said.

Rosario was arrested and was charged with:

• Possession of a Pistol Without a Serial Number

• Criminal Possession of a Pistol

• Interfering with an Arrest

• Reckless Driving

• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Rosario, who is actively on parole, was held on a parole remand in addition to a $500,000.00 bond, Murgo said.
