You interview a known fraud and manipulative Town Crier and then presuppose that we care about her opinion by sharing it in the written press? Lorena Venegas and her gaggle of misinformed, know-it-alls spread lies and misinformation on a daily basis regarding Tweed New Haven Regional Airport. As a current, rated airline pilot I posses the technical acumen to call out Ms. Venegas daily. And as much, I am doing so now.

You interview people who claim:

❎Illegal flight operations of Boeing 737 aircraft at Tweed...nevermind, that the FAA oversees aviation and airports. Nervermind too that FAA specifically assigns Inspectors to each airline. Avelo, like all airlines has its operations overseen by a Primary Operations Inspector...which it seems neither you nor Ms. Venegas are aware of...am I right? Did you forget to consider those marauding, daredevil pilots flying illegal jets from a runway too short according to Ms. Venegas? Might their professional skills and self interest for survival be an indicator as to the absurdity of Ms. Venagas’ claims? And, this “secret”, “covert” operation has been ongoing, in full public sight for next to five years. You, a so-called reporter interviewed Lorena Venegas?

Here you go Lorena Venegas, Community Leader! 737 varients taking off from SNA @5,700'...well below youy "calculations ". I hope you have enough Violation Stickers to hand out.

❎Misrepresentation of aircraft performance of the highest order...promoting unfounded, unnecessary fear among the layperson. Ms. Venegas is absurdly ignorant as to airport/aviation technology and operations. Her lack of effort to understand and disseminate how aircraft performance works within the context of an airline and airport operation is horrendous if not comical.

Of note, my daily life as airline pilot has me seemingly in an eternal state of violating Ms. Venegas' self concocted "Federal Violations". I live the airline life and Ms. Venegas' myriad assertions regarding flight operations are 800% rubbish and poppycock.

❎Misrepresentation of documentation through deliberate misuse of terminolgy is a daily routine of Ms. Venegas. Her incessant use of terms such as "internal Boeing documents" and "manufacturer specifications" is flagrant falsification and Misrepresentation. Additionally, it is so absurdly prolific that it is comical.

❎Ms. Venegas routinely attests to HVN’s “lack“ of Crash, Fire and Rescue Equipment. Yet, nobody seeks to challenge her on not just the federal law that requires such vehicles at HVN but the daily and very visible operation of said equipment on the airport on a daily basis. But alas, you choose to give her a platform.

❎Have you queried Ms. Venegas on diversions at Tweed New Haven Regional Airport and asked her to detail who ”diverts” aircraft? If you have not, I encourage you to ask. Her “understanding” as to the relationship between Flight Crews, Air Traffic Controllers and, get this, the Executive Director of Tweed New Haven Regional Airport is one of, if not the most, ridiculous and absurd “understandings” of in-flight decision making I have ever heard spewed.

I have many real-life experiences in the diversion of an airliner and can tell you above and beyond any and all doubt, her dissections are nothing short of ridiculous. I am the Pilot-in Command in these and many other Pilot related matters that Ms. Venegas comments on. I can fervently tell you, she is an uninformed arm-chair quarterback.

Yet, you allow her nonsense and those of others to proliferate by giving her a platform. You masquerade her and her contingent as valid, informed representatives of matters of public concern. You could not choose a worse contingent.

As an airline pilot of 26 years and an Instructor Pilot, I find your sharing of Ms. Venegas' opinions and those like her to be reprehensible. Your lack of effort to query a citizen with the least bit of acumen and highest level of spite and malice is abundantly obvious and most shameful. As such, you are upholding an extreme disservice to our community on the matter of HVN Airport. What’s even worse still…you present her uninformed opinions as if they are a valid. They are not in the least.

It is clear that you have not desired to consider that Ms. Venegas and her local contingent of airport haters have zero credentials to speak on any subject remotely related to aviation. But alas, you interview them as if they have knowledge. These errant, manipulative, power-hungry, monopolizers of the public forum routinely and objectively demonstrate that they not only know nothing of which they speak, but deliberately lie about Tweed…this vis a vis the very Social Media Groups (Keep Tweed Small, 10,000 Hawks, East Haven Politics and flytweedfacts) you mention in your article. Aren’t those fraudulent, false platforms enough for these stooges of discourse? Apparently not, thanks to your article.

It is not just my words as attestation to this, but countless public, recorded comments at Airport sanctioned meetings that verify and quantify the lunacy of Ms. Venegas’ statements and others like her. By lifting and giving voice to these alleged "civic-minded" persons, you are bringing discredit to meaningful discourse and dialog on the matter of Tweed-New Haven Airport. Worse still, you have promoted a false narrative that is all too common in not just aviation, but in our society as well.
