Mario Piscitelli, 84 of East Haven, Connecticut, passed away on May 11, 2026, with his loving family by his side after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He faced his illness with the same grit, stubbornness, and humor that defined much of his life. He was born on June 8, 1941 in New Haven to the late Vincenzo and Carmela (DeAngelis) Piscitelli.
Mario was the devoted husband of Rosemarie (DeFelice) Piscitelli. In his most difficult moments, she remained his steady source of strength, care, and comfort. He was also a proud father to his daughters, Michele (John Dobosz) and Darlene; grandfather to John Kaczor (Bianca) and Bobby Kaczor; step-grandfather to Jake Dobosz (Xylia DiBianco) and Dylan Dobosz (Kara); great-grandfather to Jordyn and Brooklyn Kaczor; and step-great-grandfather to Maverick Dobosz. He is also survived by his brother Joseph Piscitelli (Patti) and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Jim Piscitelli (Angela) and was undoubtedly welcomed home by his beloved dogs Stitch, Jasper, Mickey, and Lucky.
He was a National Guard veteran and worked as a manager at Sealy and later as a pricing coordinator at Lowe’s.
Mario lived a life marked by devotion to family, hard work, pride in his home and yard, and, as he would say, “the strength of a bull.”He loved staying active, gardening, casino trips, Disney, playing pool, watching golf and football, and exploring YouTube videos. Some of his happiest moments were spent outside with Stitch, whether in the yard or out for walks together.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, his endless McGyver-type solutions to everyday problems, the unforgettable Christmas Eve gatherings in the basement, his annual celebration of “MAR10 Day,” and his ability to “not stress” over the small things — especially deciding when it was time to stop for gas.
His family will miss his stories, his laugh, his advice, and the countless small ways he took care of them that made him “Pop.” To know Mario was to laugh often, feel looked after, and never doubt that family came first.
All are welcome to meet and attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 11 AM in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent De Paul Church, 80 Taylor Ave, East Haven.
