EAST HAVEN, CT — The Town of East Haven and America 250 East Haven are inviting residents, families, and local businesses to take part in a community-wide patriotic challenge in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.
The 'Show Us Your Red, White & Blue' challenge encourages residents and businesses to decorate their homes, porches, yards, storefronts, and neighborhoods with patriotic pride as East Haven joins communities across the nation in preparing to celebrate America 250.
"East Haven has always been a proud, patriotic community," said Mayor Joseph A. Carfora. "As we prepare to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, this challenge gives residents and businesses a simple but meaningful way to show their pride, honor our nation’s history, while bringing our community together. Whether it is a flag on a porch, decorations in a storefront, or an entire yard filled with red, white, and blue, every display adds to the spirit of this celebration."
Residents are encouraged to share photos of their patriotic displays on Facebook by following and posting to America 250 East Haven.
The challenge is open to all East Haven residents
and businesses, and your participation is encouraged. Residents who want to learn more about proper flag etiquette should visit legion.org.
"America 250 is about more than one day or one event," Carfora said. "It is an opportunity to reflect on our history, celebrate our freedoms, and show the pride we have in our
town and our country. I hope residents across East Haven take the challenge and help make this a visible celebration throughout our community."
