“East Haven Public Works has completed the Town’s scheduled residential bulk-waste collection. As part of that effort, collected material is temporarily consolidated at the Town’s waste facility before it is processed and transported for final disposal,” town spokesperson Ed Sabatino said.

He said that following a resident complaint, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection “visited the site to review the temporary staging of the material.”

Sabatino said the town is “working together with DEEP and will pursue any necessary permitting to complete the processing and removal of the accumulated debris.”

Sabatino noted that “bulk collection program is complete, and Public Works is continuing the remaining disposal work in accordance with applicable state requirements.”

Speaking on behalf of public works, Sabatino said the department, “appreciates the patience of residents as crews complete this final phase of town-wide collections.”
