Fernando Martins, 86, of Orange, beloved husband of Marcelina Santos Martins, passed away on July 27, 2026 surrounded by his family at Yale New Haven Hospital. Loving father of Augusto (Debbie) Martins of Queen Creek, AZ; Rita (Pat) Pellegrino of Hamden; Maria Martins of Orange and Lucy (Richard) Purvis of Milford. Grandfather of Michael and Kristina Pellegrino, Alex and Eric Martins, and Justin and A.J. Purvis. Great-grandfather of Ryan Purvis. Brother of Adozinda Sebastiao of Newtown; Palmina (Alipio) Silva of Palm Coast, FL; John (Silvia) Martins of Orange and Manuel (Anna) Martins of Flagler Beach, FL. Fernando was born in Casteloes, Portugal on June 15, 1940 son of the late Antonio and Lucinda DaFonte Martins. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a mason for J.J. Brennan. Fernando was a loving husband, father and grandfather whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of everyone he knew. His compassion and dedication made a lasting impact on his family and community. Fernando will be dearly missed and will always be remembered with love and gratitude by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven SATURDAY morning, August 1, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Infant Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
