East Haven Fire Department Commemorates 25th Anniversary Of 9/11 In Friday Remembrance Ceremony

EAST HAVEN, CT—Twenty-five years ago, the unfathomable happened and is forever etched in the minds and hearts of most.

Friday, in honor of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, the East Haven Fire Department and town hold its annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony.

The ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. on the East Haven Town Green. It honors those who lost their lives, those who responded, and the enduring spirit of the community.

The ceremony schedule:

• 8:30 a.m.—Ceremony begins.
• 8:45 a.m.—Posting of the Colors by the East Haven Police and Fire Department Honor Guard, including the presentation of the American flag.
• 8:46 a.m. — Moment of silence commemorating the time the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
• 8:50 a.m. — National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance, led by the East Haven Police and Fire Department Honor Guard.
• 8:55 a.m. — Welcome and keynote reflection by East Haven Mayor Joseph A. Carfora and East Haven Fire Chief Matt Marcarelli.
• 9:03 a.m. — Recognition of East Haven firefighters who responded to Ground Zero following the attacks.
• 9:10 a.m.—Closing benediction and retiring of the Colors.

The community is invited to join the fire department in remembering the lives lost on September 11. And to honor the courage and sacrifice of first responders and pay homage to all those whose lives were forever changed that day.
