• East Haven Fire Department Commemorates 25th Anniversary Of 9/11 In Friday Remembrance Ceremony (patch.com) — East Haven residents are invited to gather on the Town Green Friday morning as the Fire Department and town leaders mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with a detailed remembrance ceremony. The program features honor guards, a moment of silence, remarks from Mayor Joseph Carfora and Fire Chief Matt Marcarelli, and recognition of local firefighters who responded at Ground Zero.
   

• Update: UpatPolice Investigate Report Of Military Relics, 'Possible Grenade, Flare In Home: EHPD (patch.com) — East Haven police and firefighters responded to a Batt Lane home after someone reported old military relics, including what looked like a grenade and flare. The New Haven bomb squad removed the items, declared the scene safe, and officials say residents no longer need to avoid the area or be alarmed.
   

• Woman says she woke to man 'sawing' at her neck in CT apartment, warrant shows (ctpost.com) — An East Haven woman suffered life-threatening injuries after police say a man staying at her Messina Drive apartment attacked her with a box-cutter-style knife while she slept. The suspect, who relatives say has a long history of mental health treatment, was arrested nearby, and the victim is now in stable condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital as he awaits an October court hearing.
