• State Rep. Zullo, State Sen. Cicarella Announce $1.5M State Grant for Overbrook Early Learning Center (patch.com) — East Haven families are set to benefit from a $1.5 million state grant that will launch the expansion and modernization of the Overbrook Early Learning Center. Local lawmakers say the project will enhance early childhood education while adding afterschool programs, adult education, health and wellness services, and community meeting space, all under one roof in town.
   

• East Haven Fire Department receives grant to replace aging fire hoses (wtnh.com) — East Haven residents will see safer fire responses after the town's fire department secured a $273,827 FEMA grant, plus local funds, to replace aging hoses on every truck. The upgrade adds full spare hose sets, improving decontamination, firefighter safety, and readiness while easing the burden on local taxpayers.
   

• Branford Police Blotter: Sept. 15 to Sept. 22, 2026 (patch.com) — Two East Haven residents appear in the latest Branford police blotter, facing charges ranging from attempted sixth-degree larceny to harassment and breach of peace between September 15 and 22. The log lists several other arrests of shoreline residents but stresses that all charges are only allegations. East Haven readers may recognize neighbors or locations connected to these recent incidents.
