East Haven Firefighter Dan Dudek's Name Added To Connecticut State Firefighters Memorial

EAST HAVEN, CT — In July of 2024, retired East Haven Fire Department Firefighter Dan Dudek died from "occupational-related cancer," the department shared. Dudek had served in the department for a quarter century and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer less than six months after retirement in 2021, it noted.

Dudek was described by the fire department as a "friend and a mentor to many."

Sunday, East Haven firefighters, current and retired, honored Dudek as the Connecticut State Firefighters Association added his name to the Connecticut State Firefighters memorial.

In a post to Facebook, the department noted firefighters "came to support all who he left behind, especially Dan's widow and son Cody, who is a firefighter with the South Fire District, as well as all of Dan's family and friends."
