Agabhumi Opens New Location in New Haven

AGABHUMI OPENS NEW LOCATION IN NEW HAVEN

New Haven, CT (July 10, 2012)—Agabhumi, a lifestyle brand inspired by Balinese culture, is officially opening its newest store location in New Haven on Thursday, July 12th at noon.  Agabhumi welcomed locals for its soft opening on June 16th and is excited for its official grand opening on July 12th. This is the brand’s third location in Connecticut and fifth in total, including stores in California and Barbados.

The store’s design will remain consistent with the Agabhumi’s colorful identity and, according to co-owner Regina Kirshbaum, will emit the tropical essence of Bali by incorporating a combination of natural elements. “The calming ocean-blue color of the walls and floor will be accented by copper and wood detailing, as well as a small waterfall to create an atmosphere reminiscent of a serene tropical island,” she describes.

“The unique urban and suburban setting makes New Haven an exciting spot for retail,” Kirshbaum expressed. The store is located in close proximity to the Yale University campus and Yale-New Haven Hospital. Kirshbaum explains that this location was particularly desirable because of the diverse community of the area.

“We are delighted to welcome Agabhumi to New Haven,” said Abigail Rider, Associate Vice President and Director of University Properties.  “Agabhumi’s unique merchandise promotes a new awareness of Balinese culture and complements the diversity of the many fine offerings of The shops at Yale”, Rider states.

 About Agabhumi:

Agabhumi the Best of Bali opened with its flagship store in 2002 in Stamford, CT. Owners Michael and Regina Kirshbaum have traveled the world for decades, drawing in personal and professional inspiration from the many sights and people they've encountered on their journeys.  The duo chose the name "Agabhumi" as it means "ancient firmament" and represents a reflection of strength and creativity of the artisans they work with.  They travel to Bali to hand select designs and products from an array of craftspeople, often collaborating on the trends Regina and Michael forecast.  Unique jewelry, handbags, apparel, shoes and gifts are chosen to help expose the breadth of the collective talents of the designers in the exotic island of Bali, Indonesia, while remaining at the forefront of the fashion curve.  Agabhumi now has 4 store locations across Connecticut, Barbados and California as well as a successful online store and presence at www.agabhumi.com
