ArmourBite? Mouthpiece Review

A few years ago I had no idea who or what Under Armour was. Now, I’m sure some of you are asking which rock I recently crawled out of BUT at the time I was close to 30, had not played sports in years, and my daughter wasn’t even walking yet. I was completely out of the loop. The company that I work for introduced me to their products when they had personalized jackets made for us to help us transition between fall and winter; it was a VERY nice gesture. As I’ve become better acquainted with the company I know that they make amazing products!

So, as if you can’t tell where this is going, I thought I would introduce you to the latest Under Armour product that I was introduced to, the ArmourBite Mouthpiece! I was really excited when given the opportunity to review this product because I have a serious grinding problem. At night I lock my jaw and grind my teeth so badly that I wake up with headaches and often pain in my neck. Pain that is so bad I can barely move my head. My dentist recommended that I purchase a mouthpiece to help with my grinding and offered me a really neat contraption at the “fair” price of over $70. I nicely declined, hit the nearest pharmacy on my way home, and picked up a generic piece. I chewed through it in 3 days. Yes, I said THREE. Needless to say, with the number of mouth pieces I have bought since then, the $70 would have been a better deal BUT that is not the route I took. Now, back to my ArmourBite!

Let me first reference that nowhere in the products description does it state that it is for grinders; in fact, the mouthpiece is actually designed for individuals involved in non-contact sports or activities. I followed the directions provided, slid the mouthpiece in place, and I chewed through it in 4 days. It wasn’t a pleasant experience. HOWEVER, I did not use the product according to its recommendation or standards. I would NOT recommend this product for grinders. Failure of the product when used improperly is not the company or products fault … it is called user error. I was just hoping for a miracle. ;) I should also note that I am a heavy duty user. I grind a lot and have damaged my teeth in the process.

On the flip side, I have an 11-year-old niece who is very active in sports and she too owns an ArmourBite Mouthpiece and uses it appropriately. In fact, she swears by it!

My niece is a runner and volleyball player. She said she feels more relaxed when wearing her mouthpiece and she feels as though she is able to breathe easier which makes life easier, especially when she is running. My sister noted that after purchasing the ArmourBite that my niece complained less about headaches and doesn’t become as winded or fatigued as quickly. For them it is a win, win situation.

As an aunt and now a parent, I feel it is important for anyone playing a sport to wear a mouthpiece or some kind. I think it is just as important for adults BUT they are old enough to make their own decisions. Let me take this a step further. My 4-year-old nephew’s soccer season just ended. Imagine a group of 4-year-olds running around a soccer field and bumping into each other as they chase the ball. About halfway through the season there was a huge collision and one of the little boys ended up with a bloody nose. What if that had been his teeth? It happens. I know that soccer is a contact sport so this specific type of mouthpiece wouldn’t have been recommended but, you get the idea and Under Armour carries numerous products. ;)Read more here:unique prom dresses
