Avelo Airlines, Tweed Airport Hold East Haven Job Fair Saturday
The airline and airport plan to hire 50 people in the next few months. Held at Hagaman Library, 2 RT tickets will be given away at the fair.

EAST HAVEN, CT —Avelo Airlines and Tweed New Haven Airport have partnered with the town of East Haven for a job fair Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hagaman Memorial Public Library, 227 Main St., in East Haven.
At the event, the Avelo will give away a pair of roundtrip air tickets to anywhere the airline flies..
Since November 2021, the airline and airport have hired 200 people and are expected to hire another 50 over the next few months.

Recent jobs include operational roles with Avports, which operates Tweed, as well as jobs at the airport’s G Café Bakery and with the rental car companies serving the airport.
“We always want East Haven residents to be afforded opportunities for employment," East Haven Mayor Joseph A. Carfora was quoted as saying in a news release. "Job fairs like this one that engage our citizens are always positive.”

Career opportunities include customer service and ground support, aircraft maintenance, flight attendants, pilots, facilities management, airport operations, as well as supervisory positions, according to the news release. Avelo and Avports representatives at the job fair will share information about the different roles the airline and airport are hiring for today and in the future.

Additionally, Avelo Crewmembers have access to Avelo University, which offers job-readiness training and ongoing career development courses, it's noted.
“As service grows at Tweed, so do the number of jobs. Since November, we’ve created more than 200 new local jobs. We encourage East Haven residents to come on Saturday and learn how they can apply to join our fast-growing team," said airport Executive Director Sean Scanlon.
As a new airline, Avelo is an excellent opportunity for individuals at all stages in their career to join a successful and fast-growing company, the news release reads. Avelo expanded to the East Coast last November when it opened its base at Tweed. Avelo currently serves 14 destinations from New Haven across the Southeast, mid-Atlantic and Midwest with five American-made Boeing 737s.
“Avports is hiring at Tweed. We're currently hiring for airport operations, facility maintenance and a business analyst," said Avports CEO Jorge Roberts. "We look forward to meeting and hiring more of our neighbors in East Haven.”
Avelo is a member of the East Haven Chamber of Commerce. It gave away 16 roundtrip flights at the East Haven Annual Easter Egg Hunt, and is sponsoring the 2022 East Haven Fall Festival.
