EAST HAVEN, CT – An annual problem – too many cars making life difficult for homeowners near the East Haven Town Beach – is worse than ever this year, according to people on the Town Council who represent the area.
The town beach is located on Cosey Beach Avenue but parking is limited and often spills into nearby streets.

Councilman Joseph Santino said residents he’s talked to “say their way of life is ruined” by the onslaught of cars and that they don’t enjoy being at their homes on the weekends because of parking problems and other issues.
Santino went as far as suggesting that the town consider putting in a no parking ban near the beach.

Councilman Gary DePalma chimed in that the “parking is horrible,” adding that “every year it gets worse.”
Subcommittee on Public Services, Parks & Recreation Chairperson Joan Adamczyk said she, too, has heard the complaints and that people who live there “say they can’t have guests over.”
On Friday afternoon two East Haven police officers were down at the beach site, patrolling the parking and beach area.
Adamczyk added besides the parking issue the area is often full of litter at the end of a busy beach day.
Currently both East Haven and non-East Haven residents can go to the beach.
The councilmen suggested one possible future consideration for next summer would be to consider limiting beach use to East Haven residents only.
