This parking problem at the beach could have been addressed or at the very least mitigated many years ago.
That it has not been, is symptomatic, in my view, of our ineffective political system that produces elected representatives that seem unmindful, indifferent or just plain incapable of rising to the challenges of their office.
But in all fairness to the mayor, the problem is not a one man’s culpability (although as an established hierarchy, the man at the top is ultimately responsible and must, subsequently, be held to account for any failures and this, certainly qualifies as one.) For the buck as we say, stops in front of him.

But we are a democratic government and our history acknowledges the need for additional representatives in government whom we similarly task with related obligations.
Indeed we have 3 of them in the district that could have known or should have known and been aware that the parking situation is a quality of life issue that needed to be addressed “like yesterday” to do justice to the title of the office they hold.

That being said; it is a scientific fact that lower animals; crows, and octopus (being the most intelligent among their species) for example, can think and are therefore capable of developing ideas.
But does that mean anything other than that fact?
That the problem is being viewed as an opportunity to promote one’s political campaign, as well, is what’s making the action and the ideas dubious.
But that’s the nature of the beast as they say.
That the problem impacts the quality of lives of many of our fellow residents, would inherently suggest a most prudent approach in finding the solution, and just as important, one taken with caution and always guided by reason.
And this, on principle, is my take on it:
From Sunday to Tuesday, non-residents would be welcomed but prohibited from Wedesday to Saturday for those days will be exclusively reserved for residents and their guests alone.
Parking priviliges for non-residents will be provided for a fee and will only be good for those days that correspond to the days they are permitted and are effective only during the summer months on that particular year.
