Behavior Specialist Aims To Make Dogs More Adoptable

Animal control officials say the hope is to make the dogs more adoptable.

EAST HAVEN, CT – The East Haven Animal Shelter is teaming up with a dog behavior specialist to make their dogs more adoptable.

The shelter has begun working with Michael Shikashio, who runs a Mystic-based business called Complete Canines LLC.

“We at the East Haven Animal Shelter are proud to announce that we will now be working with Michael Shikashio of Complete Canine,” the shelter’s Facebook page said.

“Our goal is to bring apprentice dog trainers from Complete Canine to work with our dogs to make them more adoptable,” the shelter’s Facebook post continued.

“This will also give our dogs a chance to get more "outside time" and a chance to become more social with people and other animals. This is possible with the help of trained professionals working in a safe environment.”
