From The Bench: East Haven Girls Yellowjackets Move to #8

As they ran onto the court their smiles exuded a show of confidence rather than one of pregame jitters. These East Haven ladies who have risen to become 8th in the top 10 New Haven Register Girls Basketball poll were about to face the Hamden Dragons. Lead by their captains Olivia Coyle, Kylie Schlottman, Haley Capozzo and Ciara Mortimer the Yellowjackets took control from the start and never looked back. Their game was fast and furious and the pace was relentless. At the end of the first half the score was 34-23 and the Easties kept their foot on the gas the entire second half. When Schlottman and Coyle weren’t scoring it was Alexis Pendziwater from “downtown” who ended up with 4 three point scores. In the 4th period the ladies controlled the ball and allowed Hamden to only put up 11 points. In the end the final score was East Haven 59 and Hamden 43. Kylie Schlottman lead the scoring with 16. The girls are 9-1 and will be facing Hillhouse at 7pm on Friday January 13 at East Haven.
