Ronald Reagan Distinguished Service Awards anti Women and Minorities?

Is the Republican Town Committee and Senator Fasano turning it's back on Women and Minorities at the Ronald Reagan Distinguished Service Awards?

I as well as many other readers of The Patch who clicked on to see what the Patch decided to offer today quickly discovered that the East Haven Republican Town Committee is holding what they are calling the Ronald Regan Distinguished Service Awards.

Here is the rundown in case you missed it:

Now looking at this event I have to first congratulate those who are getting the awards at this event. I may not agree with the selections made to get the awards but then again I will not be attending the event however, whoever selected the honorees must have truly found something special about their choices that they made.

I do however, notice as I browse the list of those being honored and getting awards that there is not one Woman or Minority listed as getting an award and it seems like an award party for the old boys club of the Republican Party.

I personally know of many Republican Women in our town such as Janet Cianelli who through her work at The East Haven Food Pantry surely must be deserving of an award at this ceremony?

Looking at the list of Speakers for the event I see that Senator Leonard Fasano will be speaking at the event.

I find this interesting as it not only brings flashbacks of how his office while he was serving as Senator went against the wishes of the residents who live around the East Haven Quarry in Foxon but was being paid as Senator to represent the best interets of the residents of East Haven and those living around the quarry.

The Senator recently admitted to me that he Advocated for the developers of the Quarry and his office was paid for services which brings up the question was the Senator playing both sides of the fence and double dipping to line his pockets both as Senator and private Attorney?

The ceremony that the Senator will be speaking at as I mentioned above has no awards being given to women or minorities of East Haven who have made a difference and yt the Senator is choosing to speak at this event.

That in my  opinion is wrong as it represents the Senator thumbing his nose at all the women and Minorities who have made a difference in the East Haven Communitty.

Yet knowing all of this residents will and have placed on their lawns signs to support a Senator who went against the wishes of residents and is now thumbing his nose at Women and Minorities.

I would not accept nor have a Senator Fasano sign on my lawn knowing fully well how the Senator has taken advantage of the system to benefit himself and has clearly demonstrated that he clearly cares very little for the Residents of East Haven especially Women and Minorites who have helped to shape this great town.

If I were a community business or another resident with a Senator Fasano Lawn sign on my lawn I would remove the sign and show that unlike Senator Fasano you support the rights and appreciattion the  contributions of Women and Minorities in the East Haven Community.

Allow me to close by saying as I did at the top I congratulate all those getting an award for the service that they have given to our community.
