Carfora On Carfora: 'He's A Great Guy Who Loves This Town'

Submitted by Al Carfora, brother of, and campaign manager for, Democratic mayoral candidate Joe Carfora:

"With the election tomorrow and reflecting on what a ride it has been, I have paused to reflect on how our former Coach Frank Crisafi would prepare us for our upcoming contests. Coach would formulate a game plan; he would then review that game plan with each and every player on our team, and we would practice that game plan daily. He would impeccably prepare us so that when we stepped on the court, we were ready. When things were not going as planned and we faced some adversity, Coach was a master at making adjustments as the game progressed. But most importantly he kept us on an even keel and always reminded us that our discipline and preparation would prevail. My brother formulated and executed his campaign from the lessons that we learned from Coach Crisafi.

Some have told us that it did not appear as though our opponent exercised the same preparation or discipline that Joe’s team did. My response was always to talk about what Coach Crisafi instilled in us- I can still hear Coach preaching to worry about our own preparation and execution, and the rest will fall in place.

As a campaign, Joe and his team talked about real issues that mattered to East Haven and we stayed away from the negative personal attacks that Joe’s opponent moved towards. Any athlete knows when your opponent goes negative and doesn’t make adjustments, that is a sign of weakness and desperation- that there is no back up plan.

From the top to bottom of the Team Carfora ticket– we all worked -- from knocking on thousands of doors to dropping literature across our town. Our coordinated efforts show that our entire team was committed to a positive and transparent message. The issues were always first and foremost to Joe’s team-- our main objective has been, and always will be, the best interests of the people of East Haven.
