Caroline (Massaro) Thomas obituary: Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven

Caroline (Massaro) Thomas, 94 of East Haven passed away March 9, 2026 in Torrington. She was born September 25, 1931 in New Haven to Michael and Elizabeth (Arpino) Massaro. Caroline is survived by her three children; Michelle Kaliszekski (widow of John Kaliszekski) of Hamden, Cynthia DeRosa of New Haven and Elizabeth Diaz (Rudolph) of Torrington along with grandchildren; Jennifer, Krista, Christina, Thomas, Joseph, Matthew, Ricky, Geraldo, Nicole, Caroline, Rudolph and Sean. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren and a brother, Vincent Massaro.

Caroline is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lester Thomas (2022),a granddaughter, Amy Diaz (2022) and a sister, Dorothy Tolento.

Caroline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She loved to bake and cook Italian meals for the holiday family gatherings: her cookies and meals were the best! She enjoyed interior decorating in her home, always changing her curtains with the seasonal themes. Her home was her world. She also enjoyed planting flowers and gardening with her husband in the backyard. Caroline was a retired employee of AT&T with over 20 years of service.

Family will receive friends on Saturday March 14, 2026 from 9 – 10 AM in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Her funeral procession will then leave the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home for a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of Our Lady of Pompeii, 355 Foxon Rd., East Haven with Committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
