Coe Avenue House Fire Sunday Morning Knocked Down Quickly, 2 Displaced: Fire Chief

EAST HAVEN, CT—Late Sunday morning, the East Haven firefighters responded to a house fire on Coe Avenue, according to Fire Department Chief Matt Marcarelli.
Arriving at 81 Coe Ave. in less than four minutes after the 11:42 a.m. 911 call, firefighters found flames coming from a second-floor window on the right-hand side of the structure, the chief said.
Firefighters made entry and discovered the fire was contained to the windowsill area, and "quickly extinguished it with a water can extinguisher," he said.

As a precaution, fire companies stretched in hose lines to the first and second floors to check for fire extension. Finding none the fire was brought under control quickly without injury to civilians or firefighters.
Two occupants of the house were displaced and are being helped by the Red Cross.

"At this point," Marcarelli said, the fire cause remains under investigation.
All career units worked the fire on scene as well as volunteers from Companies 1, 3 and 4.
Aid was provided by the Branford Fire Department with Foxon station coverage provided by the North Branford Fire Department, the chief said.
"Shout out to all the responding firefighters," Marcarelli said. "This severe weather makes even the smallest of fires extremely challenging and dangerous for firefighting operations."
