Coronavirus: East Haven Essential Small Businesses To Get Masks

The state is giving some donated surgical masks to eligible small businesses. The town and Chamber of Commerce will partner on distribution.

EAST HAVEN, CT — Mayor Joe Carfora said the town will participate in a program to distribute recently donated surgical masks to eligible small businesses.

Late Friday, Gov. Ned Lamont announced the state and business partners will distribute recently donated surgical masks to eligible small businesses.

Carfora said the town is partnering with the East Haven Chamber of Commerce to establish points and times of delivery of the masks when they are received. Fire Chief/Emergency Management Director Matt Marcarelli has been monitoring this situation since we were informed of this program late Friday, Carfora said.

The Connecticut Business and Industry Association and CONNSTEP, its consulting affiliate said there are limited quantities of masks are available free to employers with 50 or fewer employees considered essential businesses as designated by the state.

Eligible businesses can request a maximum of two masks per employee through this website.
Requested masks will be distributed based on the city or town in which the business is located as early as the week beginning April 27.

Designated municipalities will contact local employers with the date, time, and location to collect requested masks.

Supplies are limited. Eligible employers are urged to submit requests as quickly as possible.
Small businesses that have little contact with the public are urged to create their own face masks or face coverings based on CDC guidelines.
