Coronavirus East Haven: Mayor Gives Update On Business Closings

EAST HAVEN, CT —Mayor Joe Carfora took to social media late Sunday night to let residents know what businesses may stay open as they're deemed essential by the state given Gov. Ned Lamont's order for non-essential business to shutter to help blunt the spread of the coronavirus.

Tonight, the governor has issued new guidance expanding the definition of "essential" work to include many of the businesses who shared their stories and concerns. We passed many of the concerns that my office received on to Sen. Len Fasano who was instrumental in helping create this additional guidance

To those businesses and workers, thank you for your hard work and understanding during this difficult time. Please continue to reach out to my office if you have issues and always remember to support our local East Haven business.

On Monday, Carfora updated residents on town closures, closing he'd ordered on March 20:

City Hall was closed to the public until further notice. Carfora said that "under the circumstances, we have no choice but to protect those within our Town Hall, as well as the general public. We urge you to continue using our city website for updates."

And, the Municipal Secretary's office are officially closed to the public until further notice.
