Coronavirus Update: 'East Haven Proud' Motorcade Set For Saturday
The motorcade will begin at the East Haven beach parking lot at Coe and Bradford avenues at 5 p.m. and will end at East Haven High School.

EAST HAVEN, CT — Mayor Joseph A. Carfora has announced the town's 'East Haven Proud' motorcade slated for Saturday beginning at 5 p.m.
Carfora said that after participating along with East Haven police and fire departments, in the Momauguin and Tuttle schools' teacher parades and attending Deer Run School’s event at East Haven High School where teachers lined the driveway and greeted children and families as they picked up school lunches, the "events showed that our community has come together in true East Haven fashion."
Carfora said that while "we all recognize that social distancing is vital and though not always easy, it is absolutely mandatory to fight this very aggressive virus. The more we practice social distancing, the sooner this pandemic will be put behind us and we can return to our everyday lives."

Carfora said that he's "proud to be from East Haven, and I am honored to be your mayor," and as such, he and the "East Haven Police Department and the East Haven Fire Department and countless community members, have decided to organize the first ever 'East Haven Proud' motorcade that will wind through our town this Saturday April 11."
Carfora said the motorcade will begin at the East Haven Beach Parking lot at Coe and Bradford avenues at 5 p.m. and will end at East Haven High School.

The parade will "take us through various areas of town, and we encourage everyone to participate from the street side of your homes if the motorcade will be passing your house; however, if the motorcade will not be passing your house, we encourage you to seek alternate safe areas to show your East Haven pride," he said.
Carfora stressed that it is "important to keep in mind that when congregating outside of your house that you maintain the six-foot distance to anyone not from your household, particularly if you choose to use a public area as a viewing location."
The mayor said those who want to be part of the vehicle motorcade must arrive at the East Haven Beach parking lot across from Sandpiper before 4:30 p.m., "so we can promptly start at 5."
Carfora said people may "make signs, decorate your car with East Haven colors, but please do not distribute anything to spectators from your vehicle. There cannot be any passing of materials and please remain in your vehicles, or on sidewalks. "
