EAST HAVEN, CT —After an emergency meeting of town and health officials, Mayor Joseph A. Carfora has ordered the Senior Center closed "out of an abundance of caution."

Carfora said that he met with the East Shore District Health Department late Tuesday morning and was told that a person "related to the East Haven Senior Center" has tested positive for COVID-19. Carfora said the case "does not appear to be related to the new variant" omicron.

Carfora said that "those who have had direct exposure" to the person have been contacted, part of contact tracing performed by the health department.
