Craig Bacote Jr. Obituary: Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven

In Loving Memory of Craig L. Bacote, Jr

Craig L. Bacote Jr, 42, of New Britain, CT passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026, at the Hospital for Special Care after a lifelong battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He was born September 14, 1984 in New Haven to the late Craig L. Bacote Sr. and Renee (Smernoff) Bacote. Craig is survived by his loving and devoted mother, Renee Bacote of North Haven, CT, and sister, Lindsay Bacote of Cary, NC, and a host of relatives.

Craig was a devoted son, brother, and friend. Although he lived with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, he never allowed his condition to define him or limit the life he wanted to live. He graduated from Hill Regional Career High School in 2004 and later earned a degree in Communications from Albertus Magnus College in 2006.

For more than 18 years, Craig made Hospital for Special Care his home. During that time, he became a cherished member of the community, known for his smile, kindness, sense of humor, and quick wit. The staff at HFSC became not only his caregivers, but also his family and community. Craig approached life with acceptance and grace, rarely expressing discontent with his circumstances and instead finding joy in the people and experiences around him.

Craig enjoyed watching movies and television shows (often at the same time!), drawing, playing bingo, and spending time with his mother and sister. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a generous spirit, and he was always willing to help others whenever he could.
