Democratic East Haven Councilman Switching to Republican

EAST HAVEN, CT - Democratic Councilman Gary DePalma is switching parties to serve as a Republican on the East Haven Town Council, the New Haven Register reported.

DePalma cites becoming frustrated with the national political dialogue of the Democratic Party as his reason for making the switch, the New Haven Register reported. He has said he intends to fight for the ideals he fought for as a local Democrat as a Republican.

DePalma has served as a Democrat on the Town Council since 2007, according to the New Haven Register. He has served four terms on the town’s legislative body.
